Hollywood North Beach and motoring north on A1A....2/2/2015

Annette and I read about a small art deco hotel in North Hollywood Beach.. http://www.sunshine-motel.com/. We allowed even though it had several good reviews that it was probably too good go be true. None the less we took off  for Hollywood. We spoke to the owner and he showed us an efficiency. It looked good, though older, as we anticipated but clean and fresh. We were still not convinced. Told the owner, John, we would walk up to the beach and think about it. Being Ellis' son I asked a leathery looking couple...older than us  what they thought of the area..It turned out we were going to get the room he was leaving on Sat. He said it was his second year there...they got there Dec. 26th, and he really liked it... he also said there was another couple that had been coming for several years and so we bit.
There is beach all the way up to the pier and then further to the jetty several miles up. Also a couple restaurants...we tried one today and it was good..but will not go back... too many choices nearby to get hung up on one. After we left we decided not to race up I95 and take the casual route up AIA. Went through Hollywood, Dania, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale by the Sea, Lighthouse Point and Hillsborough Beach, where ACB stopped to add a lighthouse to her collection. From there on up we had already been exploring.
Heading out tomorrow for Fort Pierce and lunch with Cookie Bayer..from there, who knows..have to kill a few days until we land back in Hollywood North Beach.
Sunshine Motel..staying here starting Feb 7th for a week...http://www.sunshine-motel.com/

Picture from end of street where motel is toward pier...can walk all the way up on the sand.

Another picture a little closer

Looking from the pier toward the jetty at end of John Lloyd State Park .. which has numerous places to get to beaches and multiple bathroom facilities

Looking over ACB's should you can see green house at end of our street from motel.. walk up to beach from motel about 75 yards.

This is the park that is at end of the island.

Looking across from jetty to other hotels.

Container ship leaving past fishing jetty.

Interesting story behind beach.

Another beach access down the coast from the fishing area.
Hillsborough lighthouse

Hillsborough Lighthouse again...ACB has a lot more to go.

Fort Lauderdale.... easy to see why the kids flock to this place in the spring.

Dania Beach and giant sinker... at least that's what it looks like to me.

I've seen more luxury cars up and down the coast this trip than probably my entire life previously

The end of the day... Mom and I going across the bridge from the barrier island heading back to hotel.
From Sunshine Motel toward the beach...not far...
